BIOGRAPHY

Sergeant Observer William Richard Willis (No. 1212906) was killed when his Bristol Beaufighter aircraft (X7573) crashed in the townland of Moneyneagh near Loughguile in County Antrim on 26 May 1942 during a training flight.  All three crew members on board were killed.

The Pilot was Flight Sergeant Stanley Donald Wills (aged 20), Royal Australian Air Force, who was buried in Ballyhalbert (St. Andrew’s) Church of Ireland Churchyard, Ballyeasborough, Co. Down.

Also on board was Sergeant Observer Gordon Charles Edwards (aged 25), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who was buried in Harbledown (St. Michael’s) Churchyard, Kent.
