BIOGRAPHY

Leslie Tom Measday was born on 18 September 1904 in Thorley, Hertfordshire and he was baptised on 1 January 1905 in Thorley Parish Church of England Church.  He was the son of William Henry and Ada Mary Measday (nee Collins) who were married on 27 February 1904 in Thorley.  William Henry Measday worked as a coachman and groom and he and Ada Mary had three children:

Cyril William (born 7 May 1914)

Kenneth (born 17 March 1916)

Sergeant Leslie Tom Measday (No. 10545608) and Florence Louisa Donaldson were married on 7 March 1945 in High Street Presbyterian Church, Holywood.  Florence Louisa Donaldson from Palmyra, Belfast Road, Holywood was a daughter of Samuel George Donaldson, deceased.

During the Second World War Sergeant Leslie Tom Measday (No. 10545608) served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.  He was 41 when he died of heart failure on 5 December 1945 at Kinnegar Barracks, Holywood and he was buried in Holywood Cemetery.

His effects amounted to some £851 and probate was granted to his widow Florence, and to Kenneth Measday, Registrar.
