BIOGRAPHY

Henryk Andrzej Flegier was born on 21 December 1912 and, during the Second World War, he served with the Polish Fighter Squadron.

On 9 September 1943 Sergeant Henryk Andrzej Flegier (No. P780038) survived when the Supermarine Spitfire Mark V aircraft (W3937) he was flying was written off following an accident during a training flight.

Less than a month later, Sergeant Flegier was killed when his Supermarine Spitfire Mark V aircraft (BL922) lost power and crashed 1½ miles northwest of Ballyhalbert during a low-flying training exercise.

Sergeant Henryk Andrzej Flegier (No. P780038) was 30 when he died, and he is commemorated on Panel 15 of the Polish War Memorial at Northolt in London.
