BIOGRAPHY

In the CWGC Debt of Honour website it is recorded that  Sergeant Thomas Ernest Victor Doherty (No. 1081823) was a son of Ernest and Jane Doherty (nee Bowman) of Newtownards.

Ernest and Jane Doherty (nee Bowman) were married on 8 July 1920 in Duncairn Gardens Methodist Church, Belfast.

During the Second World War Thomas Ernest Victor Doherty served with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and he was based at RAF Turnberry in Ayrshire when he was killed on 14 June 1943.

Sergeant Thomas Ernest Victor Doherty’s body was never recovered, and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey and on the Turnberry War Memorial in Scotland.
