BIOGRAPHY
William Warnock was born on 27 July 1881 in North Street, Newtownards and he was a son of James and Sarah Warnock (nee Orr) who were married on 5 July 1875 in First Newtownards Presbyterian Church. James was 19 and Sarah was 17.
They had at least fourteen children:

At least eight of the children, including William, were baptised in First Newtownards Presbyterian Church.
After they were married, the Warnock family lived in Newtownards, in North Street, East Street and South Street, before they moved to Belfast where they lived at 21 Eighth Street and at 70 North Howard Street.
William’s father died on 4 December 1900 and the family moved to 1 Richmond Street, Belfast.
Prior to the outbreak of the Great War William Warnock worked as a labourer in the shipyard. He enlisted in Belfast, served with the 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 12th Brigade of the 4th Division in the British Expeditionary Force and arrived in France on 23 August 1914. Three days later he was killed in action on 26 August 1914.
Private William Warnock was 33 when he died, he has no known grave and he is commemorated on the La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France and in the Belfast Book of Honour (Page 647).
