BIOGRAPHY

In the Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914 – 1919 database it is recorded that Joseph Miller was born in Comber and he enlisted in Londonderry.

Research has shown that this soldier was born in the townland of Cumber, Claudy and he lived in the townland of Ervey, Cross – both in County Londonderry.

Private Joseph Miller served with the 9th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 109th Brigade of the 36th (Ulster) Division and he was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
