BIOGRAPHY

In the Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914 – 1919 database it is recorded that Private Hugh McTear (No. 12013) was born in Glasgow and lived in Newtownards.

In the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Debt of Honour Website it is recorded that Private Hugh McTear (No. 12013) was a son of Daniel McTear of 4 Kennel Lane, Newtownards and the late Mrs McTear.

Private Hugh McTear (No. 12013) served with the 1st Battalion Highland Light Infantry and he was 20 when he died of wounds on 17 May 1915.

Private Hugh McTear (No. 12013) has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial in France.
