Hugh Andrew McKee was born on 13 October 1869 in Carrowdore and he was a son of Edward and Elizabeth (Bessy) McKee (nee Johnston, sometimes Johnstone) who were married on 24 November 1868 in Newtownards Registrar’s Office

The McKee family lived in the townland of Ballyfrenis, Carrowdore.

Edward and Elizabeth McKee (nee Johnston) had at least one child:

Hugh Andrew McKee worked as an agricultural labourer and he and Elizabeth Johnstone (sometimes Johnston) were married on 11 November 1889 in Carrowdore Parish Church of Ireland Church (Christ Church).  Hugh Andrew McKee (aged 21) from Ballyfrenis was a son of Edward McKee, a labourer.  Elizabeth Johnstone (aged 20) was a daughter of David Johnstone, a labourer.

Hugh Andrew McKee enlisted in Donaghadee and he served with the Army Service Corps.  Driver Hugh McKee (No. T4/123760) was 46 when he died of pneumonia on 27 October 1915 in the Second Northern General Hospital in Leeds and he was buried in Carrowdore (Christ Church) Churchyard, Co Down.
