BIOGRAPHY

In Ireland’s Memorial Records 1914 – 1918 it is recorded that Alexander Hamill was born in Newtownards.

Alexander Hamill enlisted in Belfast, served with the 13th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles in 108th Brigade of the 36th (Ulster) Division and was killed in action on 16 August 1917 during the Battle of Langemarck.

Rifleman Alexander Hamill has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France.

Rifleman Alexander Hamill left his property and effects to his father Robert.
