BIOGRAPHY

Charles William Henry Hall was born on 30 October 1889 in Shore Street, Donaghadee and was baptised in Donaghadee Parish Church of Ireland Church.  Charles William Henry Hall was a son of Charles Hall (a Coast Guard) and Louisa Maria Hall (nee Heath).

Charles William Henry Hall was two when his father died of tuberculosis at Helen’s Bay Coastguard Station on 19 December 1891 (aged 34).

During the Great War, Charles William Henry Hall served as a Drummer with the 2nd Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment and he was 29 when he died in service in India on 8 November 1918.

Private Charles William Henry Hall was buried in Nowshera Military Cemetery and he is commemorated on the Delhi Memorial (India Gate).

In the Army Register of Soldiers’ Effects it is recorded that his aunt Mary Lloyd, his aunt Charlotte Grimes and his uncle James Heath were his legatees.
