In the Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914 – 1919 database it is recorded that Patrick Docherty was born in Kircubbin (spelt Carcubin; spelt Kircubbin in Ireland’s Memorial Records).

Patrick Docherty lived in Ardrossan, Ayrshire and he enlisted in Ayr.  He served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers and was killed in action on 30 September 1915 during the Battle of Loos.  Prior to the outbreak of the Great War Patrick Docherty had been a seaman.

Private Patrick Docherty is commemorated on Ardrossan War Memorial and in the Army Register of Soldiers’ Effects there is reference to his widow Mary Ann and a child.
