BIOGRAPHY

George Erik Chambers was born in 1896 in Stockholm, Sweden and he attended Bangor Grammar School from 1908 until 1910.  He enlisted in Winchester and for a time he lived in Regent’s Park, Middlesex.

During the First World War, George Erik Chambers served with the Rifle Brigade and he was 19 when he was killed in action in Belgium on 3 May 1915.

Corporal George Erik Chambers (No. 5504) has no known grave and at that time his sister, Ellen M. Chambers, was living at Telsemaure, New Place Road, Uckfield, Sussex.

Corporal George Erik Chambers (No. 5504) was Mentioned in Despatches and he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium and on the War Memorial Plaque in Bangor Grammar School.
