BIOGRAPHY
There was a death notice in the 23 July 1915 edition of the County Down Spectator announcing the death of Lance Corporal John Colin Campbell. He was the younger son of James and Clarissa Campbell then living at 96 Victoria Road, Alexandra Park, Muswell Hill, London. Colin Campbell’s grandfather who was by then deceased, had lived at 56 Main Street, Bangor.
Lance Corporal Colin Campbell (No. 1751) served with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and he was brought by hospital ship to a hospital at Alexandria where he died on 20 July 1915 after having been wounded at the Dardanelles. He was buried in Alexandria (Chatby) Military & War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
