This website is dedicated to the memory of the men and women with North Down and Ards connections who died in service, or from causes attributable to service, in the First and Second World Wars.
Three Books of Honour have been written:
- Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Great War – North Down (420 pages, published 2011)
- Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Great War – Ards (778 pages, published 2011)
- Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Second World War – North Down and Ards (909 pages, published 2014)
Photographs, brief family information, and service details, how/when/where they died and where they are commemorated, are included in the Books of Honour for as many of the casualties as possible.
Criteria for inclusion:
- Casualties who were born in the area, including those who subsequently moved away from the area.
- Casualties who were born elsewhere but came to work/reside in the area.
- Casualties who had married into local families.
- Casualties who had strong family connections with the area.
- Casualties who died in the area and/or were buried in the area.
- Casualties who died while they were stationed in the area.
- Casualties who are commemorated in the area.
- Casualties whose deaths were reported in local newspapers.
