This website is dedicated to the memory of the men and women from North Down and Ards who died in service, or from causes attributable to service, in the First and Second World Wars.
Three Books of Honour have been written:
Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Great War – North Down
Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Great War – Ards
Remembering Their Sacrifice in the Second World War – North Down and Ards
Photographs, brief biographical information and service details are included in the Books of Honour for as many of the casualties as possible.
Criteria for inclusion:
- Those who were born in the area, including those who subsequently moved away from the area
- Those who were born elsewhere but came to work/reside in the area
- Those who married into local families
- Those who had strong family connections with the area
- Those who died in the area and/or were buried in the area
- Those who died while they were stationed in the area
- Those who are commemorated in the area
- Those whose deaths were reported in local newspapers
You are invited to provide:
- Further names for inclusion on this website, together with family details and photographs for these additional names
- Family details and photographs for any of the casualties already listed on this website
